Dark Creators Tease the Upcoming 1899 Period Drama Series

Netflix has once again blown the ship out of the ocean, quite literally, with the release of a teaser poster for the upcoming period drama series, 1899. Created by Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, the masterminds behind Netflix‘s smash-hit mystery thriller, Dark, 1899 is a mystery-horror series set onboard a ship departing from Europe to America.

Netflix has now released a teaser poster for the series, which is due to land on the platform sometime later this year. The poster shows a ship (most likely the Kerberos), heading into a swirling triangular hole in the ocean (the Bermuda Triangle?) whilst water pours into the hole. The poster reads “What is lost will be found.” Check out the poster, from the official Netflix Twitter, below.

The poster gives us pivitol insight into what the show is going to be about — to an extent. Although being purely hypothetical at this point, the triangular structure in the poster is an important motif throughout the show, and appears in most of the promotional imagery and videos we’ve recieved thus far. It almost points towards the certainty that the show will center around, or at least include, the Bermuda Triangle. Further hints are that some things that people would like to stay buried, are about to emerge on the journey to the New World.

Of course, this is only hypothetical, and viewers must find out for themselves and draft their own thoughts when the show airs. it is expected that the show will land on Netflix sometime this winter, but that is about as concrete a timeframe we’ve gotten from Netflix. With all the recent releases, however, the release is bound to be closer now than ever.

Who Stars in 1899?

Not much has been revealed about the character portrayals for 1899 at the moment, but the cast of the show has pretty much been revealed to an extent. The show stars the likes of Emily Beecham, Andreas Pietschmann, Mathilde Ollivier, Yann Gale, Aneurin Barnard, and numerous other familiar faces.

It’s probable that as the show nears release, more informaton about the characters will be revealed. Nonetheless, it’s bound to be a good release based on the current cast list. In the interim, don’t forget to check out our comprehensive wiki on 1899, which can be accessed here.
