Freeform is kicking off the new year with the release of the trailer for its new mystery thriller series, The Watchful Eye. The series is set to air on January 30, 2023 with a two episode premiere at 9PM ET/PT before slotting into its regular 10PM slot the following week.
The Watchful Eye stars Mariel Molino as Elena Santos, a nanny who moves to an affluent Manhattan district to become a live-in nanny for a wealthy family. She quickly learns, however, that the building is filled with secrets that people are desperate to do anything to protect — including the Wards. What might be surprising to viewers, however, is that Elena has some secrets of her own she is equally desperate to protect.
The trailer reveals some interesting characteristics about the residents of the mysterious building, The Greybourne, including a short introduction to Mrs. Ivey (Kelly Bishop), an affluent woman who ‘rules the roost’ and is desperate to get to the bottom of the happenings in the building. She enlists Elena to be her eyes and ears in the Greybourne and to report back anything she finds, or hears.
The trailer also introduces us to Matthew Ward (Warren Christie), a self-made architect who is still struggling with the death of his late wife and the mother to his son intelligent but withdwarn son, Jasper Ward (Henry Joseph Samiri). Amy Acker also appears as Tory Ayres, Matthew’s sister-in-law who immediately dislikes Elena upon meeting her, whilst Jon-Michael Ecker portrays Scott Macedo, Elena’s boyfriend who assisted her in landing the job at the presitgious Greybourne. Lex Lumpkin also appears as the precocious teen Elliott Schwartz, a resident who is quick to form a friendship with Elena.
The Watchful Eye was created by Julie Durk and executively produced by Ryan Seacrest, Nina Wass, Andrea Shay, Jeffrey Reiner, and Emily Fox, with the Fox also serving as showrunner for the series. The series is produced by ABC Signature, and will air on Freeform.
The Watchful Eye is set to premiere January 30 on Freeform, and will be available to stream on Hulu the following day. In the meantime, don’t forget to keep up with everything we know about the series over on The Watchful Eye Wiki. You can check out the trailer for the series below.
