New colony citybuilder ‘Ixion’ gets release date of November 16

Gamescom has been pretty loaded this year, and one of the best things to come out of it is undoubtably Ixion. Ixion is a new sci-fi citybuilder in development at Bulwark Studios and published by Kasedo Games. The game was available for attendees to pay at February’s Steam Next Fest, but a release date hadn’t been given at this time.

Now, Bulwark and Kasedo have announced that Ixion will be available on Steam for purchase on November 16. There’s still a couple of months to go, but this game is definitely something to look forward to.

Launching on November 16, Ixion is an immersive space citybuilder which tasks players with creating a new home for humanity aboard the Tiqqun, which is aptly pronounced “Tycoon”. Players have the ability to build structures within hangars, such as accommodation, manufacturing facilities and more.

The Tiqqun is on course to the  Proxima Centauri — which sounds a lot like the Alpha Centauri from Lost in Space — where you have been assigned field research by your employer, and megacorp, DOLOS. Before you make the journey to Proxima Centauri, however, players must build up and equip the Tiqquin with all of the necessary infrastructure to survive the journey.

Players face several major setbacks during the game, however. Despite DOLOS being famed for its technological advancements, the Tiqquin is cut off from the rest DOLOS and thus, has little outside help. Players, thus, must forge ahead on their own, finding innovative ways to provide for the residents of the Tiqquin.

Rock Paper Shot Gun reports that the game follows a snap-grid system, where buildings and infrastructure must be placed alongside roads and transport links for movement of goods throughout Tiqquin.

In the meantime, you can keep up to date with all things related to Ixion over at the Steam page, including adding it to your Wishlist. The game will launch November 16, at a cost of £30 / €35 / $35.
