Netflix has announced that The Umbrella Academy will return to our screens on June 22, 2022.
Alongside the announcement via Twitter, Netflix released a new trailer for season three of The Umbrella Academy and two images from the first episode.
Season Two of The Umbrella Academy aired way back in 2020 and saw the Hargreeves successfully stop the apocalypse. Whilst they managed to save the world, nothing is ever easy and upon returning to their own timeline they were met with a new foe — The Sparrow Academy.
The official synopsis for Season 3 reads: “Smart, stylish, and about as warm as a sea of icebergs, the Sparrows immediately clash with the Umbrellas in a violent face-off that turns out to be the least of everyone’s concerns. Navigating challenges, losses and surprises of their own — and dealing with an unidentified destructive entity wreaking havoc in the Universe (something they may have caused) — now all they need to do is convince Dad’s new and possibly better family to help them put right what their arrival made wrong. Will they find a way back to their pre-apocalyptic lives? Or is this new world about to reveal more than just a hiccup in the timeline?”
For those who remember, the Sparrow Academy are the dupes of the Umbrella Academy in a different timeline. The interference caused by the Hargeves created an alternate timeline in which Reginald formed the Sparrow Academy instead of the Umbrella Academy; this also meant that Ben didn’t die either!
The Umbrella Academy Season 3 adds some new faces to the already amazing cast, and the cast list for the upcoming season has more or less been confirmed already. Justin H. Min, Jake Epstein, Britne Oldford, Justin Cornwell, Genesis Rodriguez and Cazzie David star as the members of the Sparrow Academy.
Meanwhile, Elliot Page, David Castañeda, Tom Hopper, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheenan and Aidan Gallagher reprise their roles as the members of the Umbrella Academy.
The Umbrella Academy Season 3 is expected to be a hit worldwide, mirroring the success of the first and second seasons.
