Ansel Elgort will once again grace the screens of viewers in the upcoming Tokyo Vice, a HBO Max production focusing on the experiences of Jake Adelstein during his time writing for an infamous Japanese newspaper conglomerate.
The shiow is directed by industry legend Michael Mann, who directed both Heat and The Insider. He is joined by Destin Daniel Cretton and John Lesher, directors of “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” and “Birdman” respectively.
Given the show is rapidly approaching with the release only a week or so away, here are some of the things we know about the series.
When is Tokyo Vice coming out?
The series is set to release on April 7th, 2022. The first three episodes will be released simultaneously, with two episodes per week releasing each week afterwards. The season finale is expected to drop April 28th, 2022, however it is not clear at this time whether this is the season finale or the end of the series overall.
Where to watch Tokyo Vice?
Tokyo Vice is screaming exclusively on HBO Max at launch, meaning that (unfortunately), only those residing in countries where the platform is available will be able to watch the series when it launches. At this moment, it is not expected to come to any other platform.
How to watch Tokyo Vice in the UK?
Given HBO Max isn’t available in the UK, it’s difficult to UK residents to watch the show at launch. There may be hope, however, for those who have subscriptions to Sky TV.
For years, Sky has been exclusively streaming HBO content for UK viewers. This means that it is possible that they will do the same with Tokyo Vice, but this is just speculation at the moment and has not been confirmed.
Who is starring in “Tokyo Vice”?
Perhaps the most notable to be starring in Tokyo Vice is Ansel Elgort (yes, from The Fault in Our Stars and Baby Driver), who will play Jake Adelstein, the main character. Fans will be aware that Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe was originally slated to appear as Jake Adelstein in 2014, but was recast when WarnerMedia ordered the show to script.
Elgort is joined on set by Ken Watanabe, Rinko Kikuchi, Ella Rumpf, Hideaki Ito, Tomohisa Yamashita, Rachel Keller and Show Kasamatsu. This sets the series up with a more than adequite cast.
How many episodes are there?
There will be 10 episodes in the first season of Tokyo Vice. It is unknown at the moment whether the series will return for sequential seasons.
